We offer a range of workshops to support making a difference in communities. These are for individuals, groups and organisations. They can be offered in open course programmes, or tailor made to meet the needs of individual clients.
This programme is a must for anyone interested in new approaches to community development. Using the principles of social capital it introduces the seven key leverage points, or frameworks that enable communities to take charge of their own futures by developing strategies that produce better decisions, whilst building a stronger sense of community for all who live there. We offer an introductory session that explains the process to the key partners
The workshop provides an opportunity to look at the various aspects of partnership working in order to better understand and appreciate different approaches to working together on common issues and concerns within our communities.
Meetings are at the core of community life. Its essential to plan and run meetings that give everyone their say, enables dialogue and discussion to take place and results in decisions that everyone feels a part. The workshop will provide models, skills and strategies to help you do just that.
Being able to express your views and contribute with confidence at meetings is an important part of community involvement and this workshop will provide you with the skills and strategies to do just that
This workshop will help you be clear about your group’s purposes and its future goals. We’ll look at the importance of vision, the need for clear aims, objectives, priorities and values.
This is for those who are new to management committees or boards or want to refresh their knowledge. We’ll cover constitutions, incorporation, responsibilities, roles, strategic plans, policies and good practice. This isn’t as boring as it sounds!
Whatever your role is in managing and supervising people, be they paid workers or volunteers you will find this workshop useful. We’ll introduce you to the key skills of coaching, mentoring and facilitation. You’ll learn how to manage performance more effectively, improve staff/volunteer motivation and feel more confident in the process.
We know how stressful it is dealing with difficult behaviour be it from service users or other members of the group and how undermining it can be to our confidence. The workshop will equip you with the skills and strategies to deal competently with such behaviour and will look at ways in which the organisation’s policies and procedures can support both paid and volunteer staff.
It’s becoming increasingly difficult to access funding from charities and trusts. Most trusts are funding less than 1 in 5 applications. During this workshops we’ll look at what you need to do to successfully raise money for your organisation. You’ll leave with resources that help you improve your group’s fundraising potential.
We have also run many other workshops and courses such as Managing in a Changing
Environment, Managing Performance, Supervision and Appraisal Skills, Dealing
with Conflict, Team Development, Setting up Consultation Events, as well as
Action Learning Groups, accredited courses in Youth Work and Community
Development and have regularly contributed to open course programmes on
Volunteering.
Currently we are designing an open course programme ‘Make the
Difference’. Please contact us for more
