Communities come in many forms:
Neighbourhoods such as a block of flats, a village or a town
People coming together as groups through a common interest such as leisure or sporting activities
People connected around a particular identity or experience, such as a culture or faith
A workplace, such as a school or hospital, an office or factory
An essential feature of communities is people working in partnership to create and maintain a safe and enjoyable place to live and work. It means people valuing and respecting each other, building on strengths, having the skills and confidence to challenge discrimination and to deal with differences constructively
Based on principles of social capital, we offer a new approach to working within communities that builds on and develops existing networks and relationships. Our approach encourages dialogue that crosses over traditional boundaries and results in ownership of the process, people taking responsibility and working together towards a shared vision.
